Who Am I Even Talking To?

"Sovereign Lord, who made the heaven, and the earth, and the sea, and everything in them." Acts 4:24 This was the beginning of the first recorded prayer from the very first grouping of the church. A few weeks ago I blogged about Gods value system and how it's not mine. How He assigns value differently than I do. How God values his glory above all else and how, I often value my well being, or the well being of those I love, above all else. I am not the world's most patient person. I was ok reading the story in Acts 3 about Peter and John healing the crippled beggar at the temple gates. It was when I got to Acts 4:21&22 that my brain started reeling... "After further threats they (the religious leaders) let them (Peter and John) go. They could not decide how to punish them, because all the people were praising God for what had happened (the crippled beggar had been healed in the name of Jesus by Peter and John). For the man who was miraculously healed was over forty years ...

As I read in Daniel 6 this morning, I had some thoughts. If I were Daniel and I heard the King's decree saying that anyone who prayed to a god other than the king would be eaten alive by a pack of hungry lions, I might have been tempted to make my a logical plea (*silently*) to the Lord telling Him that I love Him, buuuuut ... CLEARLY this cirucmstance warented me to obey the King, stop publicly serving the Lord and, ahum, not die.
